The Road Safety Standards Body (RSSB) was formed in July 2009, when SafeDrive International, Australia (A Mix-Telematix Company, South Africa), the Road Safety & Defensive Driving Training experts, along with Sheida International, Oman, was awarded the Road Safety Enforcement & Defensive Driving Standards Services Contract (C311156) by the PETROLEUM DEVELOPMENT OMAN (PDO).

The RSST role is to ensure the enforcement of PDO rules and regulations in relation to Road Transport Operations carried out by PDO employees and contractors. The RSST is deployed to eight geographical regions within Oman to conduct vehicle compliance checks, licence checks, speed enforcement, blood alcohol level testing, crash investigation and escort duties. The RSST is also heavily involved with Safe Driving campaigns. The RSST’s aim is to ensure the frequency of Road Transport mishaps is reduced through compliance with PDO and Omani laws.

The DDAT role is to ensure all manner of Road Transport issues including gap analysis for vehicle training and road safety measures, hazard analysis and risk assessment, auditing training providers and other transport related systems. The DDAT is also responsible for conducting all driver assessments and recertification training to PDO employees and its contractors throughout Oman in support of PDO’s ongoing commitment to Road Safety.
